Tottenham Hotspur are once again interested in defender Arthur Dias!
Press reports close to Tottenham have revealed that the London club has renewed its interest in defender Arthur Dias, who currently plays in Brazil for Athletico Paranaense.
Tottenham wants the 19-year-old defender
Word has it that the North London side tabled a €21 million bid for the 19-year-old defender, only for the Brazilian outfit to reject it outright. Their stance, however, is not a flat refusal to do business — they would be willing to part with him should a €30 million offer come their way.
Globo Esporte reports that Tottenham were eager to acquire 80% of the player's economic rights. The club has kept the young defender on their radar for a considerable period, and a fresh approach further down the line cannot be ruled out. Their scouting of him, meanwhile, has been nothing short of extensive.
Significant interest in the Brazilian
Dias carries a formidable reputation across South America, where he is regarded as an exceptional talent. In the years ahead, he has the makings of a significant figure for Tottenham — provided, of course, that the London club proves willing to meet the valuation set for him.
Over on the international front, Carlo Ancelotti, who manages the Brazil national team, has been monitoring the 19-year-old closely. A place in the preliminary Brazil squad for the upcoming September international window is not out of the question.
Should he pull on the national shirt, the teenager would gain invaluable exposure at the very highest level and such a platform could well spark renewed attention from other heavyweight clubs.
