Transfer: Emiliano Martinez Joins Chelsea

Emiliano Martinez is officially a Chelsea player. The 33-year-old Argentine goalkeeper has left Aston Villa for £7.5 million and signed a three-year contract with the Blues, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Taking advantage of Bernd Leno’s injury, he started 11 of Arsenal’s final matches of the campaign and played a key role in their FA Cup triumph. He then won the Community Shield before joining Aston Villa.

It was in Birmingham that his career truly reached another level. His performances earned him a place in the Argentina squad, and he quickly became the Albiceleste’s first-choice goalkeeper.

With Argentina, Martinez now has 67 international caps and has won two Copa América titles, in 2021 and 2024, as well as the 2022 World Cup.
