Transfer: Genk completes the signing of Jerry Afriyie from Al-Qadsiah

KRC Genk has reached an agreement with Al-Qadsiah for the transfer of young Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie during this summer transfer window.

According to transfer specialist journalist Ben Jacobs, as published on his official (X) account, both clubs have found common ground, and the official announcement of the deal is now just a matter of time.

At 19 years old, Jerry Afriyie joined Al-Qadsiah from Thoughts FC, a club in the Ghanaian second division, for a fee of less than €1 million. The Saudi club then loaned him to CD Lugo in Spain and La Louvière in Belgium to further his development.

Eighteen months later, Al-Qadsiah has pulled off a fantastic deal by selling their striker to Genk for €6 million a significant profit that underlines the success of their recruitment strategy and commitment to developing young talent.

Again according to Ben Jacobs, Jerry Afriyie's transfer perfectly illustrates Al-Qadsiah's strategy: recruiting promising young players, developing them, and then reselling them to European clubs. This approach has already paid off with the departure of Argentine Equi Fernández to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025.
