Transfer market: Haissem Hassan joins Celtic on a four-year deal

Haissem Hassan continues his rise. Celtic officially announced this Wednesday, August 12, the signing of the Egyptian winger from Real Oviedo.

Haissem Hassan has signed a four-year contract, with an option for an additional season, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate. According to information released about the deal, Celtic will pay a fixed sum of 7 million euros, with an additional 3 million in potential bonuses. Villarreal will also retain 40% of the transfer fee.

Rising through the ranks in Spain

Born in France, Haissem Hassan began his professional career at Châteauroux before joining Villarreal in 2020. In search of more playing time and further development, he was loaned out to Mirandés and then Sporting Gijón.

His move to Real Oviedo in the summer of 2024 marked another major step. In his debut season, the winger played a key role in the club’s promotion to La Liga, before becoming a regular starter in Spain’s top flight during the 2025-2026 campaign.

His directness, pace, and ability to take on defenders one-on-one steadily increased his impact. His profile as a wide player capable of stretching defenses and making the difference in the final third has also drawn attention from several clubs.

An Egyptian international on the rise

These performances earned him a spot with the Egyptian national team. Hassan notably featured in the recent 2026 World Cup, where he made a strong impression with the Pharaohs.
