Transfer market: Zambo Anguissa wants to leave Napoli!
All is not well between André Zambo Anguissa and Napoli. Despite advanced discussions, the maestro of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has reportedly rejected the latest contract extension offer proposed by the Italian club.
In response, Napoli has reportedly chosen to activate the automatic renewal clause, keeping Anguissa under contract until 2027 according to Italian media.
Anguissa hoped for a more substantial pay rise
According to Corriere dello Sport, negotiations are primarily stalled over salary issues. The 28-year-old player was hoping for a more substantial pay rise than that suggested by the Napoli management.
Napoli, however, wanted to secure his future until 2029 or 2030, but failed to reach a common ground.
This forced extension gives the club a respite, but the situation remains uncertain. If an attractive offer comes along, Napoli might consider selling their midfielder this summer.
To stay or to go?
For now, Anguissa faces a dilemma: stay despite unsatisfactory salary conditions or seek a new adventure.
Meanwhile, Napoli continues to explore other options. Giorgi Sudakov, a young Ukrainian talent from Shakhtar Donetsk, remains on the club's radar. His arrival, feasible after the lifting of restrictions for non-EU players in 2025, could influence Anguissa's future.
For the Cameroonian, the coming months will be decisive.
