The transfer of Granit Xhaka to Chelsea is gaining momentum. The London club has already reached a full agreement with the Swiss international on personal terms for his future contract, bringing the midfielder closer to a Premier League return in this summer transfer window.

Romano gives the latest on the Xhaka file

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on his X account that the agreement between Chelsea and Granit Xhaka is now fully wrapped up on the contract side. According to him, the player is personally involved in talks to smooth his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

"The agreement between Chelsea and Granit Xhaka on personal terms is guaranteed. Xhaka himself is pushing to join Chelsea. He wants to return to London and now the transfer hinges on an agreement between the two clubs," wrote Romano.

The former Arsenal captain is said to be especially excited about returning to the English capital after a successful spell in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.

However, despite the agreement reached with the player, the deal is not finalized yet. Negotiations are ongoing between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen, where Xhaka is under contract until June 2028.

At 33, the Swiss midfielder is currently competing at the 2026 World Cup with the Nati. He could soon face Algeria in the round of 16 of the tournament.
