Transfer window: Al-Hilal dreams of a 100% African defense with Bassey

Al-Hilal is considering signing Calvin Bassey, the talented Nigerian defender playing for Fulham, to bolster their backline in preparation for the 2025 Club World Cup.

The wealthy Saudi club, facing defensive challenges this season, aims to strengthen its rear guard. The underwhelming performance of the duo Ali Al-Bulaihi and Kalidou Koulibaly has highlighted the need for experienced reinforcement.

Calvin Bassey, an irreplaceable figure for the Super Eagles

For this, Al-Hilal's management has targeted Calvin Bassey, an undisputed starter for the Super Eagles with 25 caps.

At 25 years old, the former Ajax Amsterdam player is tied to Fulham until June 2027. The London club is unlikely to let him go easily, with his release clause set at 25 million euros.

Al-Hilal makes an enticing offer

Al-Hilal is offering a four-year contract with a fifth-year option, accompanied by an annual salary of 8 million euros.

An enticing offer that could convince Bassey to join Koulibaly to form a 100% African defensive pair.

Signed for 22 million euros by Fulham in 2023, Bassey has played 29 matches across all competitions this season, scoring two goals in 2560 minutes.

His versatility and international experience make him a valuable asset for Al-Hilal.
