Transfer window: Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe closing in on Schalke 04 move

Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe is expected to leave Eintracht Frankfurt to join Schalke 04. A verbal agreement has been reached between all parties for a contract running until 2028, in a move that could allow the player to revive his career after a season spent between Frankfurt and Brest.

Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe is on the verge of regaining a key role in the Bundesliga. According to BILD, the Cameroon international is very close to signing with Schalke 04, freshly promoted to the German top flight. A verbal agreement has been struck between the 25-year-old and the Gelsenkirchen club for a deal running until June 2028, with an optional extra year.

The versatile midfielder has arrived in Gelsenkirchen to undergo his medical ahead of the official contract signing. Schalke are set to pay around €800,000 for his services, with the fee potentially rising to €1.3 million through various bonuses. Eintracht Frankfurt will also retain a 25% sell-on clause for any future transfer.

A deal far from profitable for Frankfurt

This transfer nonetheless represents a financial loss for Eintracht. In 2023, the German club activated the purchase option for the Paris Saint-Germain academy product for around €6.5 million. Three years later, they are preparing to let him go for a significantly lower sum, despite the future resale clause.

For Schalke, however, the move is seen as a great opportunity. Club officials view Dina Ebimbe as a player capable of bringing his versatility both on the right flank and in midfield—a profile the coaching staff was seeking to strengthen the squad ahead of their Bundesliga return.

A rich journey between France and Germany

Born in Stains, France, Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain, making his professional debut after successful loan spells at Le Havre AC and Dijon FCO. He then joined Eintracht Frankfurt, initially on loan in 2022 before making the move permanent a year later.

With the German club, he has featured in over 70 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists across all competitions. Last season, he was also loaned out to Stade Brestois, where he found more game time before preparing his return to Germany.

A Cameroon international since 2024, the midfielder already boasts several caps for the Indomitable Lions. At 25, this move to Schalke could offer him a fresh start and more consistency in a league he knows inside out.
