Senegalese centre-back Mikayil Faye is on the brink of signing with FC Nuremberg. A full agreement has been reached between the German club and Stade Rennais for a one-season loan deal with an option to buy.

Mikayil Faye is set to join FC Nuremberg in the coming hours. The 22-year-old Senegalese centre-back will undergo his medical in the next 48 hours before his move becomes official. The left-footer will play under the guidance of Miroslav Klose in the 2. Bundesliga, on a season-long loan with a purchase option included.

Currently under contract with Stade Rennais, Mikayil Faye is coming off a loan spell at Cremonese, where he made eight appearances. Before arriving in Brittany in 2024, the defender played for Barça Atlètic. Rennes had paid around €10.3 million to secure his services.

This loan move to FC Nuremberg represents a new opportunity for the Senegal international to get more playing time and continue his development in the German league.
