U-17 World Cup: Cameroon Kicks Off Preparations

The Lionceaux are hard at work. Since August 25, Cameroon’s U-17 national team has been at a training camp at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.

Under the guidance of head coach LIBIIH Thomas, 43 players have reported for this first off-site training camp. It will last ten days. The goal is clear for the coaching staff: to evaluate the group and lay the groundwork for a competitive team.

Two Friendly Test Matches

The focus is on the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Cameroon will play in Qatar and wants to arrive ready. This Friday, August 28, it’s time for the first tests. Two evaluation matches are scheduled. They will allow LIBIIH Thomas and his assistants to assess the true level of the players called up and make their initial selections.

A Tough Group K at the World Cup

In Qatar, the Young Lions won’t have it easy. The draw has placed them in Group K with three formidable opponents. Cameroon will face Mexico, Romania, and Venezuela. Three different playing styles and plenty of intensity are expected. To hold their own in this group, the coaching staff is emphasizing physical conditioning, tactical discipline, and team cohesion during this training camp.

The World Cup is scheduled for November 19 through December 13, 2026. There’s still time, but preparations begin now.
