UEFA Super Cup: Omar Artan to referee the final between PSG and Aston Villa

This is a classy decision from UEFA. Somali referee Omar Artan will be in charge for the UEFA Super Cup final between PSG and Aston Villa.

Although he was appointed by FIFA to officiate at the 2026 World Cup, Somali referee Omar Artan was turned away upon his arrival in the United States. After the controversy sparked by this incident, UEFA, following discussions with CAF, officially selected him to oversee the UEFA Super Cup.

The match is scheduled for August 12 in Salzburg, where PSG will face Aston Villa. It's a small consolation for Artan and a symbolic gesture.
