Union Saint Gilloise: Sofiane Boufal's unavailability period revealed
Union Saint Gilloise: Sofiane Boufal leaves with injury against Royal Antwerp

Union Saint-Gilloise, currently in the thick of the Pro League and European competitions, has been hit with some bad news. The Belgian club will have to cope without Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal for the coming weeks.

In an official statement released on April 1, 2025, the Unionists shared updates on the 31-year-old player. "Sofiane Boufal will be unavailable for 3 to 4 weeks due to a minor muscle injury," the Belgian club announced.

The injury occurred on Saturday, March 29, during the match against Royal Antwerp, where Union Saint-Gilloise triumphed 5-1. Boufal had to leave the field prematurely, raising concerns about the severity of his injury. Medical examinations confirmed a muscle lesion in the hamstrings, necessitating a period of rest and rehabilitation.

This absence is a major blow for the Brussels team, which was relying on Boufal's experience and talent for the upcoming challenges. Since his arrival in Belgium last September, the attacking midfielder has played 24 matches and provided 4 assists.
