Venezia: Akor Adams barely arrived and already indispensable
Akor Adams made a sensational debut for Venezia, scoring twice and providing an assist against Modena. The Nigerian forward played a pivotal role in his team's 3-2 Coppa Italia victory, securing their progression to the next round.
It took just one match for Akor Adams to make his mark in a Venezia shirt. Lining up in attack alongside Ghanaian John Yeboah, the former Sevilla player was directly involved in all three of his team’s goals during a dramatic comeback against Modena.
With Venezia trailing 2-1, Adams struck for the second time in the match to pull his side level. He had already found the net earlier, before turning provider for John Yeboah, whose goal ultimately sealed the 3-2 win for the Venetians.
This all-action display earned him man of the match honors, but more importantly, it allows Venezia to keep their Coppa Italia journey alive. For his first official outing, Adams has already sent a strong message.
Adams-Yeboah, a partnership with explosive potential
One of the main positives from this match was the evident chemistry between Adams and Yeboah. In the absence of Andrea Adorante, the duo led the Venezia attack and shared offensive responsibilities: Adams scored twice and set up his Ghanaian teammate for the winner.
The competition for places, however, will be especially intriguing to watch. Adorante is coming off a stellar Serie B season, with 17 goals and an assist, which earned him the league’s player of the year award. Yeboah also hit double figures last season, notching 10 goals according to the club’s statistics.
Adams thus joins a team where the bar for attacking performance is already high. But his advantage lies in top-flight experience: his 10 goals for Sevilla in La Liga in the 2025-2026 season came in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
In other words, he’ll have to push himself to the limit to win a starting spot, but his La Liga experience gives him a serious edge over his competition.
After Sevilla, Adams is hungry for more
At Sevilla, Adams gradually grew into a new role. Arriving in January 2025, he played just four La Liga matches without scoring in his first months in Andalusia. The following season, he transformed his status, becoming the club’s top scorer with 10 goals and 3 assists in 32 league appearances.
Before his Spanish adventure, the Nigerian also competed in Ligue 1 with Montpellier, where he scored 11 goals in 47 appearances, after first making a name for himself in Norway with Lillestrøm. In the 2023 season, he notably netted 15 goals in 15 Eliteserien matches, already showcasing his predatory instincts in front of goal.
At 26, Adams arrives at Venezia bringing a track record of steady progress. His first official match hints at exciting potential for the newly promoted Serie A side: if his partnership with Yeboah continues to flourish and he maintains this level of performance, Venezia could boast an attacking duo capable of challenging the league’s very best.
