West Ham opens talks to sign Simon Adingra

Simon Adingra could be heading back to London in the coming weeks. According to several English media outlets, West Ham has opened preliminary talks with the Ivorian international's representatives to assess the conditions for a potential transfer.

West Ham are looking to bolster their attacking options after Crysencio Summerville's move to Al Hilal and see the former Brighton player as someone who can inject pace and directness down the flanks.

While the Hammers would prefer a permanent transfer, a loan deal with an option—or even an obligation—to buy is also being considered. At this stage, there have been no official negotiations between the two clubs.

Sunderland sets its price

The Sunderland board, however, has no intention of letting their player go on the cheap. The Black Cats value Simon Adingra at around £30 million, a figure that would allow them to recoup their investment. At the same time, West Ham are also holding talks for Wilson Isidor, showing that the club is exploring multiple attacking targets.

A mixed season

The 2025-2026 season saw Adingra loaned out to AS Monaco for the second half of the campaign. Wearing the colors of the Principality club, the 24-year-old winger played 17 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. Despite some impressive performances, Monaco ultimately did not trigger the purchase option.

Prior to his Ligue 1 stint, he featured in 15 games for Sunderland in the first part of the season, netting once before being loaned out in search of more playing time.

An already impressive journey

Trained at the Right to Dream Academy after starting out at ABIS Sport Academy in Benin, Simon Adingra made his name at FC Nordsjælland before joining Brighton. A standout loan spell at Union Saint-Gilloise confirmed his potential before his move to Sunderland. African champion with Ivory Coast in 2024, the winger is still regarded as one of the most explosive players of his generation. Serious interest from West Ham would confirm that his stock remains high despite a somewhat uneven season.
