Wolverhampton: Bertrand Traoré has still not played in the Championship
Bertrand Traoré has still not played in the EFL Championship. Arriving at the last minute as a free agent at Wolverhampton, the Étalons captain is still waiting for his first minutes in England's second-tier championship.
The Wolves beaten without Traoré
The Wolves lost 0-1 to Middlesbrough on Saturday in the 9th round of the Championship. The 31-year-old winger was not included in coach César Peixoto's squad. The Burkinabè is gradually getting up to speed after a summer without a preseason. The former Chelsea and Aston Villa player, and more recently Sunderland player in the Premier League, made his EFL Cup debut on September 16. He played just 16 minutes in the 0-1 defeat to Everton.
The Burkinabè awaits full fitness
Bertrand Traoré did not take part in the September–October international window. Burkina Faso began its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against Benin and a 1-0 win over the Central African Republic. The winger must regain full physical fitness before returning to top-level competition. His arrival could help Wolverhampton, currently fifth in the standings, in its bid for promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
