The last quarter-final of the TotalEnergies CAF Women's AFCON Morocco 2026 is living up to all expectations. Facing off at Al Medina Stadium in Rabat, Ghana and Malawi are locked at 1-1 at halftime. The Black Queens struck first, but Malawi hit back immediately thanks to their captain, Tabitha Chawinga.

An electrifying start to the match

Ghana wasted no time piling on the pressure. In just the 7th minute, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah capitalized on some brilliant team play and a loose ball to volley the opener home, giving the Black Queens an early lead.

But Malawi wasted no time responding. In the 12th minute, the Scorchers leveled the score. And who else but Tabitha Chawinga? The Malawi skipper notched her third goal of the tournament—a stellar start to the competition for the Kansas City striker.

Everything still to play for

Buoyed by their group stage run, Malawi continues to impress. After finishing top of Group C ahead of Nigeria, the Scorchers are playing with no fear against a more experienced Ghanaian side. With the scores level at the break, it’s all to play for.

The winner of this quarter-final will advance to the semi-finals of the Women’s AFCON and book their ticket to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The second half in Rabat promises to be a thriller.
