World Cup 2026 (Q): Comoros squad announced for Mali and Chad
After nine months without competition, the Comoros Coelacanths return to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with two crucial matches against Mali and Chad, scheduled for March 20 and 25 in Berkane, Morocco. Leaders of Group I with nine points, they will aim to continue their impressive momentum under the guidance of Stefano Cusin, who revealed a 24-man squad this Friday, blending experience with fresh faces.
Recently qualified for CAN 2025, the Comorians approach this international window with an ambitious goal: to keep alive their dream of a first World Cup appearance. Staying true to his principles, the coach has retained the core of his team while integrating new talents.
Two offensive reinforcements: Aboubacar Ali and Adel Mahamoud
Among the new additions, forward Aboubacar Ali Abdallah (18 years old) makes his debut. Trained at RC Strasbourg and loaned to SCU Torreense (Portuguese 2nd division), he made his Ligue 1 debut in March 2024 and could energize the Comorian attack. Another notable return is Adel Mahamoud (FC Nantes), who was sidelined for several months due to injury.
However, El Fardou Ben Mohamed (lack of game time) and Bendjaloud Youssouf (not selected) are not included in the squad.
Below is the list of called-up players:
It should be noted that the training camp will begin on March 17. The Coelacanths will first face Mali before taking on Chad, still in exile, as the CAF has yet to approve the Stade de Maluzini.
