World Cup 2026 (Q): DR Congo impresses and takes the lead!
Unstoppable this Tuesday in Nouadhibou, DR Congo brilliantly defeated Mauritania (2-0) to take the lead in Group B of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
From the very first minutes of the match, the Leopards showcased their determination. Charles Pickel, the talented midfielder from Cremonese, opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with an unstoppable strike.
Despite increased Mauritanian resistance, Sรฉbastien Desabre's charges maintained their dominance. Fiston Mayele, the formidable striker from Pyramids FC, sealed the victory by scoring a second goal in the 88th minute, concluding a well-controlled performance.
DR Congo tops Group B
This resounding success allows DR Congo to add 6 more points, achieving a flawless record during the fifth and sixth matchdays.
With 13 points on the board, the Leopards now lead Senegal and Sudan, both at 12 points. Meanwhile, Mauritania struggles at the bottom of the standings with 2 points.
