Following the elimination against Argentina (1-2) in the semi-final of this 2026 World Cup, Thomas Tuchel came under heavy criticism.

After the 6-4 victory over France in Saturday’s third-place play-off, the German tactician settled scores with the media.

"Too harsh criticism? Yes, during Friday’s press conference, I had the feeling people thought we’d been knocked out in the group stage. And 24 hours later, here we are with the national team’s best result in 60 years. In situations like this, I try not to get carried away when things are going well, and not to be too down when results don’t go our way…", explained the former Chelsea manager.

Under contract until Euro 2028, Tuchel retains the confidence of the English Football Association.
