Coming off the bench at the start of the 2026 World Cup final, Ferran Torres transformed into a national hero.

The FC Barcelona player scored the only goal of the match at MetLife Stadium (New York). That strike sent all of Spain into a frenzy, to the point that an earthquake was actually recorded.

According to a report from Spanish seismologist Jordi Diaz Cusi, a seismic wave was indeed registered in several cities after this decisive goal in the final, and again at the final whistle. Seismometers placed throughout the country picked up the vibrations caused by the supporters' eruptions of joy. The sensors detected three peaks of activity: after Ferran Torres' goal (106th minute), a second goal disallowed by VAR (112th), and finally, at the final whistle.
