After sending Argentina through to the 2026 World Cup final, Lionel Messi dedicated this achievement to Diego Maradona in an emotional statement.

Once again, Lionel Messi took a moment to remember Diego Maradona. After leading Argentina to another World Cup final with two assists against England (2-1), the Albiceleste captain dedicated the qualification to the late icon of Argentine football.

"I'm sure Diego is enjoying this moment from above. This is for him, it was always a very special day… I'm happy to be able to give him this joy and I sincerely hope he can enjoy it," said the number 10, visibly moved after the match.

However, the tribute didn't end there.

"We were lucky to live in Diego's era. I never wanted to leave his side, and I know he loved me. I choose to remember all the beautiful moments we shared," Messi added.
