"I'm sure Diego is enjoying this moment from above. This is for him, it was always a very special day… I'm happy to be able to give him this joy and I sincerely hope he can enjoy it," said the number 10, visibly moved after the match.
However, the tribute didn't end there.
"We were lucky to live in Diego's era. I never wanted to leave his side, and I know he loved me. I choose to remember all the beautiful moments we shared," Messi added.
