2026 Ballon d'Or: end of the war between Dembélé and Mbappé

The campaign for the 2026 Ballon d'Or led Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé to exchange unfriendly words. But now reunited in the France team, the two players have made peace.

Long after the turmoil surrounding the 2026 Ballon d’Or involving Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé spoke out this week to set the record straight. “I’ve already spoken to him about it; there are no tensions, I don’t think there are really any problems regarding that, I’m completely at ease,” he said. The France captain denied any kind of tension with his teammate.

Speaking to RMC Sport, a member of the France delegation said that the relationship between the two players is no longer the same as before. “If you watch without paying attention, you see that they still sit next to each other at the table and talk to each other. But if you look closely, you can see that there is tension. When they met again at the château, we immediately understood. There is something between them; it’s not like before anymore,” said this member of the France squad.
