Lionel Messi now has the football world at his feet. The Argentina captain has once again shone at this 2026 World Cup, this time against England.

The former Barça star was the driving force behind La Albiceleste’s campaign, which booked its ticket to the 2026 World Cup final on Wednesday after coming from behind to beat England (2-1). Messi admitted that he underwent a lengthy preparation to be ready for the tournament.

"I've been preparing for almost a year for this World Cup. In December, I was in Argentina, training relentlessly, morning and night. I knew I had to give everything to arrive at this tournament in the best possible shape and be 100% ready," declared the former Barcelona man in the mixed zone.
