2026 World Cup: Claude Le Roy lashes out at Gianni Infantino

As a guest on L'Équipe du Soir, Claude Le Roy delivered a scathing attack on Gianni Infantino, accusing him of running FIFA according to his own interests at the expense of football.

Appearing on the set of L'Équipe du Soir this Wednesday, Claude Le Roy didn't mince his words regarding the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino. The future Congo national team coach began by denouncing Infantino's grip on the African continent, even referencing his relationship with CAF.

"He sees himself as the deus ex machina of the AFCON, something he would never dare do at the Euros, Copa America, or the Asian Cup," he declared on L'Équipe du Soir.

"He is simply playing on the greed of many African federation presidents, because he knows he has 54 votes for his next election," he added.

"Stunned" by football's image

Finally, Claude Le Roy was even more scathing towards Infantino, calling him on air a "dangerous multilingual fool for football". He also lamented, in the same exchange, the growing perception among the public that professional football is riddled with corruption and shady dealings.
