The 2026 World Cup final could go down in history with an unprecedented halftime show, an initiative that’s already sparking huge debate.

The final of the 2026 World Cup could see a groundbreaking first. According to BBC, The Times, The Athletic, and L’Equipe, FIFA is considering hosting a Super Bowl-style halftime show, featuring a star-studded lineup with the likes of Justin Bieber, Shakira, Madonna, BTS, Burna Boy, and Coldplay.

However, this initiative would not be without consequences. In fact, the break in the final could be extended to 20, even 25 minutes—far surpassing the 15 minutes set by the Laws of the Game. This would force both finalists to completely rethink their recovery management and tactical routines.

Nonetheless, this decision is already raising many questions. IFAB regulations clearly state that halftime "must not exceed 15 minutes." FIFA could thus find itself at the center of a new controversy just days before the climax of the 2026 World Cup.
