2026 World Cup: Florian Wiegele, the tallest player in the tournament
Austria's goalkeeper Florian Wiegele is set to become the tallest player ever to feature in a World Cup finals. Standing at an imposing 2.05 meters, he sets a new unprecedented record.
Before him, the height record was held by Dutch goalkeeper Andries Noppert, who stood at 2.06 meters during the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Florian Wiegele edges out other World Cup 2026 giants, including Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Stjepan Radeljić, Colombia's goalkeeper Álvaro Montero, and English defender Dan Burn. All three stand at 2.01 meters.

Florian Wiegele plays in the Czech Republic with Viktoria Plzen, where he has featured in 31 matches, conceding 27 goals and keeping 14 clean sheets.
The Graz native has played only one match for the Austrian national team, last March, in the 5-1 victory over Ghana. He stayed on the bench during the friendly against Tunisia.
