2026 World Cup - Portugal: Roberto Martinez reiterates his confidence in Ronaldo
The frenzy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo has reached its peak since last Wednesday's 1-1 draw with DR Congo in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
Yet, head coach Roberto Martinez maintains unwavering faith in his captain. Facing the situation, the Spanish tactician is relying on the experience of Al-Nassr’s star striker.
"As you can imagine, Cristiano is a very experienced player. That helps. He is extremely focused. He’s without a doubt the best example of how to concentrate on the things you can control: the way he recovers, prepares, and trains. And he’s a great example for us, for all of us. This is his sixth World Cup, and that really makes a difference," Martinez told the media.
Portugal will play their second match against Uzbekistan this Tuesday (7pm).
