After falling victim to a violent attack in Boston, young Algerian supporter Wassim will finally get to witness the high-stakes clash between Algeria and Switzerland, thanks to an initiative by Walid Sadi.

Wassim is about to experience a truly special moment. Just days after being assaulted in Boston, the 14-year-old Algerian teenager will be in attendance for the round of 32 match at the 2026 World Cup between Algeria and Switzerland.

An invitation to turn the page

On the sidelines of his vote in the legislative elections, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune revealed that Sports Minister Walid Sadi had taken the initiative to invite the young fan to the Greens’ match.

"The Minister of Sports has invited the young supporter to attend the national team’s match against Switzerland. You will see him, and see him in good condition," declared the head of state.

As a reminder, Wassim was attacked on Tuesday in Boston by a group of Moroccan supporters on the sidelines of the match between Morocco and the Netherlands. After being hospitalized, the teenager is now out of danger. Algerian authorities, in coordination with the Algerian embassy in Washington, continue to closely monitor the case in cooperation with their American counterparts.
