2026 World Cup: The top 20 best tacklers ahead of the round of 16
Marvin Senaya continues to shine. The right back from AJ Auxerre made two successful tackles during Ghana's loss to Colombia, bringing his total to 20 since the start of the World Cup.
The player, who also holds French and Togolese nationality, leads the tackling rankings ahead of the round of 16, just ahead of Paraguay's Juan Cáceres. Cáceres will have a chance to improve his stats when his country faces France in the round of 16.
Three players have managed 16 tackles so far: Paraguay's Andrés Cubas, Morocco's Neil El Aynaoui, and Algeria's Rayan Aït-Nouri. Only the latter has been eliminated after Algeria's loss to Switzerland.
Other African players have also stood out for their tackling prowess, including Samuel Moutoussamy (DR Congo – 14), Mohamed Hany (Egypt – 14), Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast – 13), Ibrahim Sangaré (Ivory Coast – 13), Mohanad Lasheen (Egypt – 13), Krépin Diatta (Senegal – 12), and Mohamed Amine Ben Hmida (Tunisia – 12).
