The battle to host the 2030 World Cup final is heating up behind the scenes. While Morocco is pushing forward with its ambitious giant stadium project in Casablanca, FC Barcelona has now entered the race, reshuffling the balance of power within the joint bid with Spain and Portugal.

At the Mundo Deportivo gala, the city's mayor, Jaume Collboni, made Catalonia’s ambitions crystal clear:

"Barcelona has always aspired to host major sporting events. I have informed the Spanish Football Federation that the city would be ready to be the venue for the 2030 World Cup final."

The Barcelona bid is banking on a renovated Spotify Camp Nou, upgraded to over 104,000 seats. Up against Casablanca’s future stadium and the Santiago Bernabéu, FIFA will have to make a decision by 2028—a showdown where prestige, capacity, and influence will weigh heavily.
