Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has sent message of appreciation to Moroccan supporters after the Pharaohs secured early qualification for the AFCON 2025 round of 16 in Morocco.

Pharaons booked their knockout place with perfect start in Group B collecting six point from victories over Zimbabwe and South Africa to become first team to reach the last 16 at the tournament.

Egypt will conclude their group-stage campaign against Angola on Monday, with Hassan insisting his side will push for victory despite already sealing top spot.

Speaking at Sunday’s pre-match press conference, the 59 year old coach stressed that the encounter remains important on both competitive & technical levels.

“We will play to win against Angola even after qualifying,” Hassan said. “This match is valuable opportunity to prepare the team for the upcoming rounds, with full respect for Angola’s quality & status.”

Hassan highlighted the strong mentality within his squad praising their commitment and hunger as the tournament progresses.

“Angola are strong and respected team. This game gives us chance to fine-tune our performance,” he added. “The players are showing the spirit & determination worthy of the Egypt national team and our constant goal of making the fans happy.”

The Egyptian coach also confirmed that all players are fit noting that 19 different player featured across first two matches.

Morocco support praised by Egypt coach

Hassan reserved special thanks for Moroccan fans who have been vocal in their support of Egypt during the tournament.

“I thank the Moroccan supporters for backing Egypt. This is natural between brothers,” he said. “Egyptian fans always support Arab teams as well.. it reflects the sporting spirit between Arab nations.”

Confidence High ahead of Knockout rounds

Egypt are set to remain based in Agadir for the round of 16, a scenario Hassan welcomed as preparations continue.

“The journey is still long,” he concluded. “The players have quality, motivation and high morale & that gives us confidence going forward.”
