AFCON 2027 qualifying: "Togo will take part in AFCON 2027" — Djené Dakonam
Despite an inconsistent campaign over the first two matchdays, Togo still has hope. Djené Dakonam is confident about the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The Éperviers captain spoke in an interview with Sporty TV.
Strong conviction
Djené Diakonam does not hesitate. The Getafe defender believes this will be the year Togo qualify.
In Africa, every team has a chance. We currently have three points and there are four matches left to play — two at home and two away — and I am convinced that Togo will take part in AFCON 2027.
A competitive Group I
In Group I of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Togo have picked up three points from two matches. The Éperviers recorded a 1-0 win over Burundi and suffered a 0-2 defeat to Zambia, the 2012 African champions.
Togo will face Algeria in a two-legged tie next November. A decisive turning point in the qualification campaign.
Ending a long absence
Togo have missed the last 4 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations. The captain and Getafe defender Getafe player wants to end this drought and bring the Éperviers back onto the continental stage.
