Algeria – World Cup: season over for Ramy Bensebaïni!

Ramy Bensebaïni is causing serious concern ahead of the 2026 World Cup. His Borussia Dortmund coach has delivered an alarming update on his condition.

The timing couldn't be worse. Ramy Bensebaïni, the Algerian international defender for Borussia Dortmund (BVB), is still plagued by foot pain after the injury he sustained against Freiburg on April 26. In a Wednesday press conference, Niko Kovac raised the alarm:

"Ramy isn't doing well, he's still experiencing pain in his foot. I don't think he'll play against Bremen either. His Bundesliga season is probably over, even if he could return for the World Cup."

A statement that offers only partial reassurance. While the door remains slightly open for the 2026 World Cup, uncertainty lingers just three weeks before the start of the Greens’ training camp.

Vladimir Petkovic is keeping a close eye on the situation. Losing Bensebaïni, a defensive pillar of the Fennecs, would be a major blow for a national team preparing to face Argentina, Jordan, and Austria in Group B.
