Argentina: match against Burkina Faso could ultimately be played at La Bombonera
The friendly match between Argentina and Burkina Faso, scheduled for October 3, 2026, could change venues. Initially scheduled to take place at Buenos Aires’ Monumental, the fixture could ultimately be held at La Bombonera, Boca Juniors’ stadium.
According to TyC Sports, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) is currently considering moving the match. The change has not yet been made official, but La Bombonera is now among the options being considered to host La Albiceleste’s second fixture in this series of matches.
The AFA is considering leaving the Monumental
The schedule currently announced by the AFA has Argentina facing Burkina Faso on October 3 at the Monumental. Three days later, on October 6, the national team is also due to host Benin at the same stadium.
However, this schedule could change. According to TyC Sports, the AFA is considering moving the match against Burkina Faso to La Bombonera. Such a decision would allow Argentina to return to Boca Juniors’ stadium just a few months after its last two matches played at the venue.
Doble Amarilla also reports that Boca Juniors was consulted regarding La Bombonera’s availability on that date, confirming that the possibility of a change of venue is currently being considered.
Argentina have already played twice at La Bombonera in 2026
The team managed by Lionel Scaloni had already played two matches at La Bombonera last March. They beat Mauritania (2-1) before comprehensively defeating Zambia (5-0).
If the change is confirmed, Argentina will therefore soon return to Boca Juniors’ stadium for the first of its two matches against African national teams scheduled in this series.
The schedule currently announced remains made up of three matches: Bolivia on September 30 in Córdoba, Burkina Faso on October 3 in Buenos Aires, then Benin on October 6 at the Monumental. For now, only the venue for the match against Burkina Faso could be changed.
