Atlético de Madrid: Julián Álvarez returns to training!

Back in full team training, Julián Álvarez remains at the center of a tug-of-war between his rumored desire to leave and Atlético’s firm stance.

Julián Álvarez resumed group training with Atlético de Madrid this Wednesday. The Argentine striker took part in the session led by Diego Simeone, following a rest period after the 2026 World Cup.

However, this return does not resolve the question of his future. According to reports from Spain, the player is keen to join FC Barcelona, drawn by the club’s sporting project. Atlético, however, remains adamant: with a contract running until June 2030, their center-forward is not for sale—unless an extraordinary offer arrives.

A standout 2025-2026 season

The Argentine is coming off a strong campaign with the Colchoneros. Across all competitions, he netted 20 goals in 49 appearances. In La Liga, he tallied eight goals and four assists in 29 matches. He truly shone in the Champions League, scoring ten times in fifteen outings. At the World Cup, Álvarez featured in eight games for Argentina, starting five, and found the net once.

Valued at €100 million before the World Cup, his market price has now climbed to €120 million. This figure cements his status and explains Atlético’s lofty demands.
