Ballon d'Or 2026: Hugo Lloris's lovely message to Harry Kane
Crowned 2026 Ballon d’Or winner, Harry Kane received congratulations from his former teammate Hugo Lloris, who knows him particularly well.
The French goalkeeper shared the dressing room with the English striker for ten years at Tottenham. He made no secret of his joy after the Bayern Munich striker’s triumph. “I’m happy for him. It’s great to see a former teammate win the Ballon d’Or, at home in London,” the former France captain told L’Équipe.
Now at Los Angeles FC, Lloris praised Kane’s development over the seasons. “He has an incredibly complete skill set, which he has developed year after year. Today, he can do everything: short passes, long passes, he tackles, tracks back to defend, and he is surely the best player in the box,” he added.
Hugo Lloris bows to Kane’s personality
It must be said that beyond his footballing qualities, it is above all the personality of the England international that impresses Hugo Lloris. Unlike some stars, Harry Kane did not seek to make numerous media appearances to support his Ballon d’Or candidacy.
“He does not seek the limelight. He owes this Ballon d’Or to his professionalism and humility. He is an example in our sport. Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or had already rewarded a player focused on the collective, as was the case with Karim Benzema in 2022. Harry is not just a scoring machine,” concluded the 2018 world champion.
