Cristiano Ronaldo, Pedri, Raphinha and Federico Valverde are among the biggest names left out of France Football’s final 30-man shortlist.

France Football has now revealed the full list of 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. While Mbappé, Yamal, Dembélé, Haaland and Messi all made the cut, several high-profile players did not. This is not an official “absentees list”, but rather a selection of notable names missing from the final shortlist.

Ronaldo, Pedri, Doué and Cherki among the eye-catching omissions

Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence is particularly striking. At 41, the Portuguese star scored 28 Saudi Pro League goals and helped Al-Nassr win the league title. Pedri also has reasons to feel disappointed after making 43 appearances for Barcelona, providing a career-best 12 assists and winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

Other omissions stand out when both individual and collective achievements are considered. Désiré Doué won a second consecutive Champions League title with PSG and was again named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year. Rayan Cherki finished his first campaign with Manchester City with 10 goals and 16 assists in 52 appearances. Federico Valverde, a key figure for Real Madrid, had already contributed to 16 goals during the opening months of 2026.
