Argentina finished their group stage campaign in style in Arlington, notching a third straight victory over Jordan (1-3) and completing a perfect run in Group J. Despite a heavily rotated starting eleven and Messi left on the bench at kickoff, La Albiceleste gave no chance to a brave but already eliminated Jordanian side.

Lo Celso opened the scoring with a superb free kick in the 19th minute before Lautaro Martínez doubled the lead from the penalty spot (31’). Jordan, however, refused to give up in the second half—Al-Tamari pulled one back with a fine finish (55’). But then Scaloni unleashed Messi from the bench on the hour mark. La Pulga wasted no time: in the 80th minute, he skirted the Jordanian wall with a low drive that beat Abulaila at the base of the post (1-3), moving him alone to the top of the World Cup scoring charts.
Three matches, three wins, eight goals scored: Argentina heads into the round of 16 in peak form and brimming with confidence. The reigning world champions send a clear message to their rivals ahead of their next clash with Cape Verde.
