Next Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain will host FC Barcelona in what is the most eagerly anticipated clash of this regular phase of the Champions League.

It is the most eagerly awaited match. It will pit the two-time defending champions of the Champions League against the team in the best form at the start of this season. On Saturday afternoon against Real Betis, the Catalans struck again. Inspired by a dazzling Lamine Yamal, the Blaugrana recorded their ninth consecutive La Liga win by prevailing 2-5.

Rodri sets the tone

After this victory, attention has already naturally turned to the trip to the Parc des Princes. Having scored for the very first time with FC Barcelona, Rodri was the first to comment on the upcoming clash against the reigning two-time European champions. “It is a match between two great teams, and it may be one of the most interesting games to watch at the moment,” he told the Catalan club’s media outlet.

He added: “I don’t know if we can really talk about an early final. For our part, we are not approaching it as a decisive match. Above all, it is a Champions League game that we must manage intelligently, taking into account the demands of the competition, fatigue and the players’ physical condition. That said, these three points will be extremely important. PSG will play at home, in front of their supporters, and they will be a formidable opponent. As I said, this match will be an excellent test to measure our true level.”

Flick relies on his players’ form

Speaking to the press, Hansi Flick highlighted Barça’s fitness ahead of the PSG clash. “For now, the most important thing is to recover well. Recovery is essential, and we must make sure that everything takes place under the best possible conditions. Then, we will have to assess the situation and see how to manage playing time. We will see what happens. (…) For me, today’s match was the most important one. It was very important to win this game for the La Liga standings; everyone knows that,” he said.

Although Barça won yesterday, the German coach lost three players to injury: Gerard Martin, Éric Garcia and Koundé.
