Chelsea blocked from recalling Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea cannot decide on its own to end Alejandro Garnacho’s loan. According to The Telegraph, the agreement reached with Aston Villa contains no clause allowing the Blues to recall the Argentine winger during the season.

Chelsea have no recall clause

Having joined Aston Villa at the end of July, Garnacho has endured a difficult start to the season. The player has still not managed to establish himself as a starter and has made three appearances as a substitute, while he remained on the bench for the other four.

This situation could prompt Chelsea to look for a solution during the winter transfer window. However, the London club has no mechanism allowing it to unilaterally recall its player. To change the situation, Chelsea and Aston Villa will therefore have to reach an agreement on the terms of a potential departure for Garnacho.

LaLiga clubs interested

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea would only seek to end the loan if another team could guarantee Garnacho regular playing time. Clubs from LaLiga have reportedly already expressed interest in the Argentine and could consider taking the player on loan.

Under contract with Chelsea until June 30, 2032, Garnacho therefore remains tied to the London club for the long term. But if the Blues want him to leave Aston Villa before the end of the season, they will first have to reach an agreement with the Birmingham club.
