Even as he celebrated his 50th birthday, Lumumba Vea did not abandon the Leopards. Known for his notable presence in the stands during matches involving the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Michel Kuka Mboladinga was in Harare on Monday, September 28, to watch his team beat Zimbabwe (2-1) in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

A supporter who never misses a game

Born on September 26, 1976, Michel Kuka Mboladinga celebrated his 50th birthday a few days before this match. On Monday, he also shared photos of the event on his social media accounts, accompanied by the message: « Today, I am celebrating my 50 years on earth. Yes, half a century under the sun ».

But this birthday did not draw him away from his passion. As usual, he showed up to support the Congolese national team during this trip to Zimbabwe. His loyalty to the Leopards has now become part of his identity among the supporters.

A presence unlike any other

With his brightly colored suits and his motionless posture in the stands, Lumumba Vea does not go unnoticed. During matches, he remains standing, almost frozen, like a statue. This attitude is a tribute to Patrice Lumumba, a hero of Congolese independence who was assassinated in 1961. His nickname, « Lumumba Vea », means « Lumumba lives » and reflects the symbolic significance of his approach.

His presence at major competitions, notably the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup, has helped raise his profile well beyond the borders of the DR Congo. At 50, Michel Kuka Mboladinga continues his commitment to the Leopards. In Harare, his presence alongside the Congolese supporters accompanied an important victory for the Leopards against Zimbabwe (1-2).
