Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi was one of the major attractions of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifiers.

The Harare native scored three goals in the first two rounds of qualifying. After his brace against Sierra Leone, he scored again on Monday in the match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo).

Here are five things to know about the Zimbabwean striker in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

Beginnings in Zimbabwe

Developed at Zimbabwean club Blue Rangers FC, Marshall Munetsi was promoted to the first team in 2014, at the age of 18.

After proving himself in the domestic league, he was signed in 2015 by South African club FC Cape Town, who were playing in the second division at the time.

According to the South African press, the Zimbabwean player earned a salary of $250 when he began with FC Cape Town.

Valuable experience in South Africa

It took Marshall Munetsi just one season to prove himself in South Africa.

In 2015, he was signed by the South African giants for $136,000, according to specialist website Soccer Laduma.

He made just 37 appearances for the Pirates before being loaned out twice to Baroka FC.

A fruitful spell in France

Marshall Munetsi’s strong performances in South Africa did not go unnoticed. Indeed, Stade de Reims signed him as a free agent in 2019.

A masterstroke by the French club, which sold him to Wolverhampton in 2025 for €18 million.

In the meantime, he made 159 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 14 assists.

A difficult start at Wolverhampton

Marshall Munetsi failed to establish himself with the Wolves during the 2025-2026 season, prompting the English club to loan him to their French counterpart, Paris FC.

A return to France that allowed him to rediscover his best form, including a tally of 4 goals and 2 assists in 16 appearances.

A promising start to the season

The Zimbabwe international has once again become an important player for Wolverhampton during the 2026-2027 season.

He has made 9 appearances in the Championship and FA Cup, scoring 2 goals.
