DR Congo vs Chile friendly: the match will go ahead

The 2026 World Cup warm-up match between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chile will take place as scheduled. After Spanish authorities refused to host the encounter, the match has been relocated to French soil.

DR Congo will face Chile in the city of Orléans, in north-central France, in their final friendly before the 2026 World Cup kicks off. The date remains unchanged, with this crucial test set for June 9 at 16:00 GMT, 18:00 local French time.

The match will be played behind closed doors

Both coaching staffs insisted on holding this fixture. The match was originally scheduled for Marbella, Spain, but local authorities blocked it due to the Ebola outbreak in eastern DR Congo.

In France, the game will be held without fans or media at Stade de la Source. After a draw against Denmark in Belgium, the Leopards are aiming to claim a win over La Roja of Chile before the World Cup gets underway.
