In response to the Spanish authorities’ unexpected decision to suspend the match for health reasons, the Congolese Football Federation has reaffirmed its strict adherence to health protocols.

While uncertainty surrounds the much-anticipated international friendly between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chile, scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Spain, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) has decided to take the initiative. Facing what it described as a major administrative hurdle, the federation released a clear statement aiming to reassure everyone.

The Congolese federation’s message was unequivocal: there has been no negligence on the part of the Congolese delegation. The federation insists that all required measures—both health-related and organizational—have been meticulously and rigorously followed by all players and coaching staff since the start of this camp.

The federation also emphasized that it is operating under the strictest international protocols recognized for major sporting events of this nature.

This statement is aimed directly at quelling the controversy sparked by local authorities in La Línea de la Concepción, who decided to challenge the prior authorization for the match due to the ongoing Ebola health crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
