New developments regarding the friendly between DR Congo and Chile
The Democratic Republic of Congo national team continues its preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a friendly against Chile scheduled for Tuesday on French soil.
DR Congo – Chile: Venue for the match finally revealed
According to information from (TOP CONGO FM) relayed by a source at the Congolese Ministry of Sports, the match will be played in Orléans after being moved from La Línea de la Concepción in Spain. The game is also expected to take place behind closed doors.
Originally planned for Andalusia, the fixture was ultimately not authorized by local authorities. The mayor of La Línea de la Concepción reportedly refused to host the event as a precaution due to concerns about the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo.
The officiating will be handled by a Tunisian trio led by international referee Mahrez Melki, assisted by Khalil Hassani and Aymen Ben Ismaïl.
As a reminder, Sébastien Desabre’s men are preparing to compete in their first World Cup since 1974. The Leopards secured qualification by defeating Jamaica in the intercontinental playoff.
At the 2026 World Cup, DR Congo will compete in Group K alongside Colombia, Portugal, and Uzbekistan.
