England: 2026 World Cup failure, Harry Kane has regrets

In his latest media appearance, Harry Kane looked back on England's 2026 World Cup.

Despite finishing third, England's best result at a World Cup since 1966, Harry Kane remains disappointed. The Bayern Munich striker has particularly painful memories of the 2026 edition. In an interview with the Telegraph, the Bayern Munich forward said that the Three Lions had moved away from their identity in the semi-final defeat to Argentina (1-2), as well as on several other occasions during the tournament.

"That defeat hurt me more than all the others, probably even more than when I missed my penalty in Qatar, because of the way it happened. That wasn't us. It wasn't the team we wanted to be, nor the team we had said we wanted to be. Sometimes, you go against your convictions and it hurts ten times more," the England captain confessed.

Kane now wants the players and staff to understand why England struggles to remain true to itself in major fixtures.
