England equal 59-year-old record after 7-0 win in Croatia
England equalled a historic record for the national team in Croatia. With a resounding 7-0 victory in Rijeka on Saturday evening in the Nations League, the Three Lions secured a ninth consecutive away win, matching their longest-ever run of victories away from home.
It was necessary to go back to the Alf Ramsey era to find such a run. Between December 1965 and October 1967, England also put together nine away wins in a row. Nearly six decades later, the English national team has equalled that historic mark.
A run built over several away trips
This performance confirms England’s consistency away from Wembley. Before their trip to Rijeka, the national team had already won eight consecutive away matches. Their victory over Croatia therefore allows them to join the team managed by Alf Ramsey in the Three Lions’ record books.
The manner of the victory also made an impression. After a 2-0 win over Czechia in Prague, England scored seven goals in Croatia. Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka each scored twice, while Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Morgan Rogers also found the net.

Chance to break the record in November
England can now become the outright record holders. Their next away match in the Nations League is scheduled for 15 November in Spain, at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid.
A victory would take Thomas Tuchel’s side to ten consecutive away wins, establishing a new benchmark in the history of the national team.
After two matchdays in this Nations League campaign, England have two away wins, against Czechia and then Croatia. The 7-0 scoreline in Rijeka above all allowed them to match, 59 years later, the run achieved under Alf Ramsey.
