England: Harry Kane joins three legends with a new international record
Harry Kane continues to write his name into England’s history. After scoring twice in the Three Lions’ 7-0 victory in Croatia on Saturday evening in the Nations League, the striker became the fourth England international to score in six consecutive away matches in competitive fixtures.
Kane’s run had begun before the trip to Rijeka. He had already scored in his previous five away matches with England in competitive fixtures. His brace in Croatia allowed him to extend that run and join three English players who had achieved the same feat before him.
Kane joins Windridge, Finney and Mortensen
Before Kane, only James Windridge, Tom Finney and Stan Mortensen had scored at least once in six consecutive away matches in competitive fixtures for England.
Windridge achieved this run in 1908. Mortensen reached the same total between 1947 and 1948. Tom Finney went even further, with a run of seven consecutive matches between 1946 and 1948.
Kane now has six consecutive away appearances with at least one goal in competitive fixtures. He will need to score in England’s next away match in this context to equal Finney’s run of seven matches.

Kane takes his England tally to 89 goals
His brace against Croatia also took Kane’s tally to 89 goals in 124 appearances for England. The Bayern Munich striker scored his 88th and 89th international goals in Rijeka.
Kane is also closing in on Peter Shilton’s appearance record. With 124 appearances, he is now just one cap short of the legendary England goalkeeper, who has 125. The Three Lions captain could therefore reach that mark as early as Tuesday against the Czech Republic, if Gareth Southgate selects him.
