Erling Haaland is gearing up for his fifth Premier League season since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund.

He will play his first match with the Citizens in the 2026-2027 Premier League on August 23, facing Bournemouth.

Erling Haaland targets a fourth Golden Boot

The Norwegian striker is the only player to have won the Golden Boot who will be competing for the Premier League top scorer title in the 2026-27 season.

The 26-year-old forward has already claimed this trophy three times: in 2022-23 (36 goals), 2023-24 (27 goals), and 2025-26 (27 goals).

Among active players who have previously won the Golden Boot but are no longer in the English league are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) and Sadio Mané (22 goals in 2018-19), Jamie Vardy (23 goals with Leicester City in 2019-20), Harry Kane (23 goals with Tottenham in 2020-21), and Son Heung-min (23 goals with Tottenham in 2021-22).

The latest to depart the English top flight is Mohamed Salah, a three-time Golden Boot winner with the Reds (2018-19, 2021-22, and 2024-25).

Who can challenge Haaland this season?

Manchester City kick off the season by hosting Bournemouth on August 23 at 1 a.m. GMT. The Norwegian goal machine will look to start the campaign on the right foot and open his scoring account.

Among the strikers set to compete this season are Brazilian Igor Thiago (Brentford), Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City), Englishman Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Brazilian Joao Pedro (Chelsea), and Swede Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal).
