Although the opposing goalkeeper is often what players fear most, they sometimes also come up against another tough opponent: the post.

Spanish newspaper Diario AS has published a ranking of the Big Five teams that have hit the post most often at the start of the 2026-27 season.

Real Madrid have hit the post nine times in the eight matches they have played this season. That is more than any other team in the five major leagues!

FC Barcelona and Inter Milan are level with seven shots hitting the woodwork, while Manchester United are third with six.

Juventus, Stade Brestois and Sunderland round out this top five, having hit the woodwork five times during the 2026-27 campaign.

Here is the ranking of the teams that have hit the woodwork most often:

1- Real Madrid: 9 times

2- FC Barcelona: 7 times

Inter Milan: 7 times

4- Manchester United: 6 times

5- Juventus: 5 times

Stade Brestois: 5 times

Sunderland: 5 times
